In Lima Peru high school students of public schools learn about Internet from their peers and by themselves. This is a result of the research developed in the capital of Peru, Lima by Prof. Dr. Raul Choque, graduated from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos with the supervision of Prof. Dr. Cristobal Suarez from Universidad de Salamanca of Spain.
1,141 students of high school that are studyng in 4th and 5th grade were part of the research. The results showed that teachers do not teach students how to use the Internet. Students learn mainly from their peers and also when they are searching on the Internet.
Other important result of this research was that students use Internet mainly to get information, to communicate and in minor proportion for school activities. Other important result is that 80% of students access Internet in public booths, therefore the Ministry of Education should make a campain about the use Internet in booths with educational goals.
A reflexion about this research is that in the integration of computers and Internet in the educational system, teachers should first be trained in the use of Internet and use of different tools that can allow students to improve the educational activities.
